Chapter Six – VICTORY OVER SIN

We are made to serve God, not to be a slave to sin. Sin is rebellion against God and an archery term that means to miss the mark. Sin wants to master us. When we choose sin, we are slaves to sin.

Sins can become strongholds in our lives.

Jesus came to set us free. Repentance is turning 180 degrees, like a U-turn. Repentance is a change of heart, will, and actions. Repentance is necessary for restoration. We live in a culture that does not want to confess sin. We prefer to deny, blame, point fingers, or cover up our wrongs. To rationalize actually includes what we think are rational lies.

God sees through it all.

Nothing is hidden from God’s sight. We die to sin and evil desires. We choose the Spirit instead of the flesh. We have been brought from death to life through Jesus. We live for God and gratefully serve the Lord, our risen hope. In a world that is chaotic and confused, Jesus is our peace.

Just Choose Hope

HOPE POINT

Real freedom is found in Jesus who breaks the chains of sin and empowers us to serve the Living God.

PRAYER

Father God, we offer ourselves to You in worship. Because of Your great mercy, we devote ourselves to You. We were bought at a price, through the precious blood of Jesus. Our sinless Savior gave up His life, so that we could live. Thank You Jesus for setting us free. Sin is not our identity. We are united with You forever. We are grateful, God, to be able to serve You. Fill us with the Holy Spirit as we surrender to You. We live to glorify You Jesus and in Your name we pray, amen.
