BOOK OF PSALMS
PART THREE: Psalms 29-42
READ: PSALM 30
DEVOTIONAL
PSALM 30
Prosperity can lead to pride and make us feel invincible. David was humbled. God rescued him from death. If you have ever had a serious illness or a brush with death and your mortality, it can be very sobering. David realized he had a false sense of security.
God can use trials in a transformative way.
Instead of independence, we realize how much we need God for every breath. Today is a gift from God. Let’s not take any blessings for granted. Repentance brings restoration. Pain can be a tool that God uses to make us more like Jesus. Instead of self-reliance and self-confidence, we can discover God’s loyal love and faithfulness with all His promises.
Instead of a performance-based identity, we find our identity in Christ.
It’s a grace-based security. We praise God for the ways He has shown us mercy and changed our perspective and paradigm. The Lord is our strength and shield.
