BOOK OF PSALMS

PART nINE: Psalms 113-126

READ: PSALM 126

DEVOTIONAL

PSALM 126

Love includes sacrifice. The death of Jesus precedes His resurrection. A mother goes through excruciating pain before she delivers a child. Her weeping turns into joy as she holds her child. Farmers work diligently before the harvest comes.

In ministry, there can be years of prayer and waiting before a breakthrough happens.

Exile is brutal, but there is rejoicing when the people return home and experience restoration. The prodigal child brings grief to many hearts, but there is a celebration in heaven when they come to their senses and return to God. This Psalm covers the full range of emotions. The Lord has done great things.

God heals after many hardships.

After a drought, God sends rain, and the rivers are flowing again. Jesus came to set captives free. Don’t grow weary and give up. Stay faithful and trust God with the timing and results.

PRAYER

Merciful God, You have all authority and knowledge. You see us in our suffering and graciously intervene. Thank You for sending Jesus to rescue us. Sin wants to hold us captive, but You set us free. We sing and dance in Your presence. Your restoration is glorious. We will tell the world about Your goodness. Thank You for the resurrection that follows death. We have your infinite and indestructible hope, Jesus. We pray all of this in your unrivaled name, amen.
