EPHESIANS 1:1-14

God can do immeasurably more than what we ask or imagine. The book of Ephesians is about the greatness of Jesus, who saves us and gives us a new identity and a sense of unity. Paul is writing to the followers of Jesus in Ephesus, which is present-day Turkey. Paul is enduring persecution for his faith and is sending this letter from house arrest in Rome around 60 AD. Grace is an undeserved gift and leads to peace with God.

Through Jesus, we are in God’s family forever.

Paul begins this letter by celebrating many of the blessings we have in Christ. We are chosen by God, adopted, and accepted eternally. We have the forgiveness of sins, peace with God, indestructible hope, and a secure inheritance. The Holy Spirit dwells in us, in an intimate daily relationship. We worship God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We will serve and praise Jesus with all our hearts.
