WEEK 3 – THE TABLE
DAY NINETEEN
God calls us to do some very unusual things. Hosea married Gomer, an unfaithful wife. The pain of adultery is beyond words. The sense of rejection and abandonment runs so deep. God’s call to Hosea was to go find his wife and welcome her home. He went to the marketplace and had to purchase her out of slavery. Can you imagine what that day must have been like for both of them? The word redeem means to buy back. Jesus created us, but we rebelled. He left heaven and purchased us with His sinless and precious blood on the cross. He paid the price for our sins and removed the penalty of sin and separation from God. Without Jesus, we would be in hell forever.
We can’t save ourselves.
Gomer was a picture of Israel at the time as they were unfaithful to God and chose to love idols. Hosea was a picture of the costly redemption that God offers. You are called to redeem the times and restore broken relationships.

Gracious God, You are the source of our hope. We trust Your word and timing. Your commitment to us for eternity inspires us to love faithfully. If Your calling doesn’t make sense to us initially, we still want to do whatever You are telling us to do. May our lives, decisions, and responses be in alignment with You today, Lord, amen.
