Chapter Twelve – HONOR THE LORD

Jesus enters Jerusalem to shouts of worship. Hosanna in the highest! Crowds are fickle. Days later there will be shouts to crucify our sinless Lord. Jesus is not swayed by public opinion or popularity polls.

Integrity brings security.

Jesus receives the extravagant praise of Mary who pours expensive perfume on His feet and wipes His feet with her hair. Jesus is worthy! Jesus knows as He rides humbly into the city, that if the people don’t praise Him, the rocks will cry out.

Jesus is worthy!

Jesus knows there is a faithful remnant who will honor Him in the midst of a majority who want to kill Him. Jesus is worthy! The contrast is stark and the tension is so thick. Worship is our response to the greatness of our Lord. Worship includes our affection and allegiance during the week, not merely on Sunday. Honor Jesus at your home as you welcome Him with Scripture reading, rich conversations, service, love, and prayer.

PRAYER

Holy God, we praise You for Your faithfulness and goodness. We were bought with the precious blood of Jesus. Our lives are not our own. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We offer ourselves to You. May You use our gifts and resources for Your glory. May Your church be strengthened and Your purposes be accomplished. Thank You for calling us and anointing us. May Your passion become our passion as we devote ourselves to You. In Your name we pray, Jesus, amen.
