Chapter Sixteen – THE COUNSELOR
Jesus was realistic about the immense trials and the glorious provision for the disciples. His followers would be persecuted, thrown into prison, beaten, and killed.
Most of the disciples would die as martyrs.
The sad irony is that the people who murder them would actually believe they are pleasing God. We see this tragedy around the globe today. Killing followers of Jesus does not achieve a place in heaven. This lie is from the pit of hell. The Holy Spirit will help the disciples at every turn.
Courage, truth, words to say, hope, and endurance will be given by the Holy Spirit.
A woman goes through extreme pain in childbirth, but the treasure and blessing of having a child is worth the suffering. We are called to forgive, proclaim the gospel, and love our neighbors. There will be many lives transformed but the cost couldn’t be any higher. Jesus will also depart, but His return will be physical, global, and visible. Until that day, rely on the Holy Spirit. Grieving is temporary and will become overflowing joy in His perfect presence forever.
Just Choose Hope

PRAYER
Thank You Holy Spirit for indwelling in us. We can’t live the Christian life alone. Thank you for the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control that You provide. Forgive us for the times we grieve You and do not listen to You. We want to be guided by You and eager to serve. We know You are working mightily in our hearts. Raise up an army of people who will drive out the darkness and shine Your light we pray Lord, amen.
