Chapter Thirteen – DIRTY FEET

Whoever wants to be great will serve everyone else. That’s a radical message. Humility was despised and very undesirable in the context of this chapter.

Jesus came to transform.

His kingdom turns the culture upside down. Our Savior did far more than just talk about servant leadership. Jesus stooped down from heaven to come to earth, and He stooped down to wash the disciples’ feet. Ultimately, He would humble Himself to pay the penalty for our sin and die on the cross. It was uncomfortable for the disciples to receive and watch their Master wash their feet. We have dirty feet that need cleansing.

We are called to imitate Jesus.

Everyone says they want to serve, until it’s actually time to serve and then are treated like servants. Your motivation will be tested. It’s not difficult to find dirty feet, but who will pick up the towel for the glory pf the Lord?

Just Choose Hope

PRAYER

Omniscient God, nothing is hidden from You. Our sins are intentional and unintentional. We often don’t do what You want us to do, and we make choices that we know violate Your word. Forgive us for falling short of Your glory. We receive Your grace today. Our feet are washed, and its humbling. Your servant leadership moves our hearts. We want to live and love like You, Lord. May we go and do likewise. Fill us with the Holy Spirit we ask, so that we will bring You glory, Jesus, amen.
