Chapter Five – SUPERNATURAL POWER

Miracles are signs that reveal the identity of Jesus, the Christ. The healing is a blessing to the recipient, invites the crowds to turn to the Lord, and glorifies God.

Jesus works on many levels at the same time.

Jesus cared for people on the Sabbath because He is Lord of the Sabbath. The religious leaders had intense restrictions, but Jesus was faithful in spite of the opposition. You can’t thwart God’s plan. He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Jesus is far more than a great teacher, prophet, and miracle worker. Jesus is God.

The words and works of the Lord reveal the truth.

There is life in Jesus that the religious leaders want to deny. The power of the Holy Spirit is unstoppable. We can either go through the motions or walk in step with the Spirit. The Christian life is supernatural. Let God write the script and do the heavy lifting.

PRAYER

Holy Father, forgive us for our pride and the many ways we are distracted. We drift from You far more than we realize. We do not want to be squeezed into the mold of this world. Thank You for renewing our minds and empowering us with power from above. We don’t want to just go through the motions when You have so much more for us. May we hunger for Your wisdom and will. We praise You in Jesus’ name for what You will do, amen.
