84 Days Of Soaring
WEEK SEVEN – SOLUTIONS
DAY 43 – Problem Solving
Where To Start
Read Acts 15:1-21 and then watch the DAY FORTY-THREE video.
“It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.”
DEVOTIONAL
WEEK 7 – SOLUTIONS
DAY FORTY-THREE
There is conflict in every marriage, family, church, and city. That is a given. The key is how well we work through the challenges together.
Conflict resolution skills are very practical and guard our unity. Bringing together two very different cultures to follow Jesus was not an easy endeavor. Jews and Gentiles had different values, traditions, thoughts, and expectations.
Great leadership does not ignore issues or overreact to problems.
As you read through this chapter think through your own approach and what you can learn and apply to your relationships. Notice that there was listening and understanding. If you skip that step, your solutions will not be as solid or collaborative.
Pay attention to what God is doing, not just what your preferences are. Continue to come back to Scripture, which is our authoritative truth source.
The Bible is God’s thoughts and God’s ways. The conclusion is to not make it unnecessarily difficult for Gentiles who are turning to God. Eliminate distractions and what is petty so we can major on the majors. We will have much more joy and harmony if we trust God’s wisdom and principles.
Just Choose Hope
HOPE POINT
Be reasonable, humble, and teachable in conflicts.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Why did the Jerusalem Council meet?
How did Peter, Paul, Barnabas, and James play a role in the solution?
What are some challenges that you are navigating now?
PRAYER
Omniscient God, You have all the answers. Thank You for being generous with wisdom when we ask. Forgive us for trying to lead our way instead of trusting Your way. We want to honor You and live at peace with one another. We pray this in Your matchless name, Jesus. Amen.
