Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!”

DAY FIFTY-EIGHT
Preachers are passionate and can be longwinded. You have probably experienced that over the years.
Eutychus was trying to stay awake as Paul continued teaching throughout the night. He didn’t want to disrespect Paul, miss the message, or fall out of the third story window.
His cause of death was a combination of preaching, sleeping, and falling in one tragic moment. Everything shifted from an all-night revival to an unfortunate funeral in a matter of minutes.
Life can change quickly, even with the best intentions.
Paul was a preacher who also prayed, and God answered the prayer to bring Eutychus back to life. The message of resurrection now included a demonstration.
The people celebrated by enjoying a meal together and later Paul resumed his teaching. You just can’t put out the fire of God! In the morning, people who missed the late-night meeting heard an incredible true story.
Eutychus had an amazing testimony, and everyone stayed awake for the entirety of every sermon that month. Don’t fall asleep at church, and don’t stop telling the story of what God has done in your life.

Everlasting God, thank You for defeating death. Jesus, thank You for Your resurrection. We look forward to new bodies. Until then, we want to receive and believe the abundance of Your promises. You truly do far more than we can ask or imagine. We pray and rely on You, Lord. Amen.
