84 Days Of Soaring

WEEK ELEVEN – COURAGE
DAY 73 – Stay The Course

Where To Start
Read Acts 25:1-12 and then watch the DAY SEVENTY-THREE video.

If, however, I am guilty of doing anything deserving death, I do not refuse to die. But if the charges brought against me by these Jews are not true, no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

Acts 25:11

DEVOTIONAL

WEEK 11 – COURAGE
DAY SEVENTY-THREE

Following Jesus is like a marathon, and we are all called to finish well.

Hope is the fuel God gives us at every turn in the journey. His grace is sufficient.

Paul appealed to Caesar, and as a Roman citizen that was his right. He would go the full distance to Rome. Going to the highest court involved persistence, patience, and perseverance.

There were many miles traveled, many conversations, many steps of obedience, and many prayers.

On the road of faithfulness, continue to check in with God to see if there are any mid-course adjustments you need to make.

Your greatest battle might be the desire to quit and give up.

Pain, uncertainty, disappointment are all par for the course. If someone told you that following Jesus means you have an expensive car, the best house in the neighborhood, the most comfortable bed and couch, and your favorite foods – this is the message of cultural Christianity.

Those might be blessings if they don’t slow you down. You can enjoy them with others. There is, however, a much deeper joy and hope. Paul had none of those pleasures. His treasure was Jesus.

Just Choose Hope

HOPE POINT

When you are on the right track, refuse to go sideways.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

What have you observed about Paul’s determination?

Why is Paul motivated to go to Caesar?

What are some distractions and temptations you face?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, when we feel like the road is difficult may we still listen to You. We have been bought with a price, and our lives are not our own. This truth frees us up to be faithful. When we follow You, Jesus, there is no turning around. We ask for Your perseverance to run the race and finish the course in Your strength. Amen.
