And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia. He says that gods made by human hands are no gods at all.

WEEK 8 – DISCIPLESHIP
DAY FIFTY-SIX
When people turn from idols to the living God, the culture changes. There are many lucrative businesses that are based on sinful choices and practices.
In Ephesus, people worshipped the false god Artemis. Silver shrines filled the city. Demetrius was a wealthy silversmith because people wanted man-made gods they could hold and control.
The apostle Paul preached about the emptiness and deception of idols, and people turned to our living hope, Jesus. This revival was great for souls and families, but bad for the idolatry business.
Think about all of the money that is made today from drunkenness, drugs, pornography, human trafficking, etc.
People spend an exorbitant amount for sin, and money is just one costly payment.
It also demands your joy, integrity, closeness with God, health, and peace of mind.
When those who promote sin are losing, they riot. May God’s people redeem the times and may the promoters of iniquity see their destructive businesses crumble.

How can you handle opposition and not shrink back?
PRAYER
Jesus, You did not give in to fears and threats. Father, our courage comes from You. Our eyes are on You, Lord. When there is chaos in this world, You are our Rock. Heaven is our home. No one can take away Your indestructible and infinite hope. We pray with Your resurrection power, Jesus. Amen.
